Education of nurses in rural primary health cares to improve vital care of newborns: A community-based research in Nigeria

This study was designed to ascertain the level of knowledge and degree practice components Essential New-born care (ENC), effects a training programme on ENC among nurses in rural Primary Health Cares (PHCs) South East Nigeria. one group pre-test post-test intervention design. The considered were: New-Born Initiation Breastfeeding, Thermoregulation, Cord Care, Newborn Eye Breathing Administration Vitamin K. A Neonatal Knowledge Practice Assessment (NCKPA) Questionnaire tested for validity reliability, with Spearman’s correlation coefficient 0.81, used data collection (96) available (All female). There significant improvement extent following programme. Despite improvement, there were gaps amongst PHCs affected 40(41.6%) - pre-intervention, least cord 70 (72.9%) eye 90(93.8%) post-intervention.
